Right now, we are so excited about the amazing hot spots and hidden gems that we have discovered in Canada and the United States. After your deposit, we will contact you and confirm whether or not you have a passport and that will determine the options we have for your destination. We have plans to add more destinations soon though!
We require payment in full sixty days before your trip or within 48 hours after you book (whichever comes first). Nothing will be booked until you pay in full but you can start with a deposit to make budgeting a little easier or if you don’t have your date set in stone yet.
If your plans change after you place a deposit, but before final payment time, we do offer a three chance option. This means, if you need to cancel or change your dates, you have two more chances to make your deposit work for you. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the travel industry, we do not offer refunds. This seems like a good time to talk about the importance of trip insurance. In case you didn’t know, we live in a world where literally anything can happen. We STRONGLY recommend travel insurance.
Due to legal limitations, we can’t include insurance in your trip (otherwise we would). We think insurance is incredibly important and will ask if you would like us to get you a quote for both medical and/or cancellation insurance in your cliffhanger email. Although we do not offer refunds, depending on your insurance policy they may reimburse you should you be unable to go.
Contact the office and we will try our best to make it happen. We love spontaneity and we will work a little overtime to help a fellow freefaller. While we won’t be able to get your mystery bag mailed in time, all your documents will be sent to you electronically.
Great Question! A small portion of your budget does go toward our profit (we are a business after all) but we promise your trip will be a great value for your budget! PLUS, you didn’t do any of the planning work! If you want an exact breakdown of where your money will go, shoot us an email and we will be happy to share the details.
We got you! We do not want you to pick a number out of thin air especially if you have never traveled before. We know you know “cheapest” isn’t always “best”. Our best tips for picking a budget are here.
Obviously you need money for food but the rest is entirely up to you! Although we also know that the cost of a sandwich is going to be cheaper in Montana than Los Angeles so we ask you this when finding out what you are looking for in your vacation. Maybe you want to choose our lowest budget ($750/person) but you are fine spending more on activities once you are down there. Hello Disneyland! Maybe you want to choose a higher budget but spend less money by being sent to a city with lots of free activities – San Francisco anyone? We ask you this in your questionnaire so don’t worry at all. We don’t like to brag, but this is just one of the things that make us different. We love surprise vacays but we also offer full-service travel planning from start to finish to whatever destination you have in mind. Even better than that, we offer a middle step in between: with this middle option we choose five options (after you complete your survey), you narrow it down to your top three and then we surprise you!
Can we level with you? We love that you love mystery vacations. We love them too. But we also love YOU. And we want you to book all of your vacations with us. While we recognize that these surprise getaways are addicting, we also want to be your go-to people when you are flying down to visit your aunt in palm springs or when you and your best friends want to plan a group vacay and you can’t get everyone on board with a mystery vacation. A plane ticket and accommodation throughout your stay. Please make sure to budget for meals and transportation while in destination as well! We will also reach out in our cliffhanger email with some optional (surprise!) activities you may want to purchase ahead of time but these are completely optional, no pressure.
If there is somewhere that you feel you don’t want to go, we don’t want to send you there! Please make sure to let us know in the questionnaire. We don’t want you to go anywhere that you don’t want to go but we would also encourage you to be open-minded: isn’t that why you are here? Ultimately there are no refunds, so although this is a valid concern, it is possible that you just aren’t ready to free fall (or maybe you just don’t want to, which is okay too). Don’t worry, we also offer a middle option or full-service travel option for you!
There is no easy way to say this: you sound like a bit of a nervous nellie. Although we can never guarantee that you will love every second of your getaway (although that is our goal) we know that a true freefaller can make the most of any destination.
Because the travel industry is always changing, we encourage you to contact us and let you know where you are traveling from so we can let you know what options we have for you (in terms of budget and potential destinations).
We hate sounding like a broken record but this is why travel insurance is so important. Something happening could mean a broken arm or a missed flight home so depending what has happened, we will try our best to help so contact us right away. If you have a more specific “what if” scenario, contact us and we can help with a more thorough answer. Most of the time though, the answer comes back to insurance.
Ideally you should receive your envelope in the mail about a week before you depart but if you don’t receive it within three days before you take off let us know and we will overnight it to you.
As of right now, we are only sending travellers to the United States and Canada and luckily they both have Uber! We recommend downloading the Uber app on your phone so you can easily get from the airport to your accommodation (or a currency exchange place) with no cash necessary. PRO TIP: If you want to use your phone in the USA, we recommend adding a plan to your phone BEFORE you leave Canada (while you are at the airport waiting for your flight should give you enough time). Also call your credit card companies and let them know so they don’t block your cards!
It depends on what you have in mind. Depending on the point system you use, we will try and make this happen for you. Select the $200 deposit option and let us know you have points you want to use and what you want your remaining budget to be. We will contact you after receiving your questionnaire responses to get more details if we need them. Other than that, you will have access to the booking so we are going to have to trust you not to ruin the surprise for yourself!
